Kasnodar Caviar: Crafting a Unique Legacy from Russia to Madagascar’s Red Island

Founded in 2018, Kasnodar Caviar blends Russian heritage with Madagascar’s natural beauty. As the first producer of caviar in Africa and the Indian Ocean, the company is committed to quality, sustainability, and expanding its global reach.

Can you provide a brief description of your company?

Established in 2018, Kasnodar Caviar pays homage to travel and discovery. Its identity is shaped by two countries: Russia, the global birthplace of caviar, and Madagascar, the island of myriad natural wonders.
Historically, the fertilized eggs from Acipenser farm come from the city of Krasnodar, located in southern Russia. After a long journey, these eggs are welcomed into the farm’s hatchery to give birth to sturgeon fingerlings that will produce Madagascar caviar. Nestled at 1400 meters above sea level, the sturgeon farm is only 1 hour and 30 minutes away from the capital of Madagascar and offers an ideal environment, free from pollution, for this unique aquaculture.

It’s a remarkable feat since Madagascar caviar is the first of its kind in Africa and the Indian Ocean. The terracotta color that defines Kasnodar Caviar pays homage to the laterite that colors the plateaus of the Great Island, also known as the “Red Island.”

How are you adapting to the evolving expectations of your customers?

Once we tackled the challenge of sturgeon farming and caviar production, we sought, through the Kasnodar Caviar brand, to democratize and demystify caviar for all generations. Caviar is a delicacy that generally leaves no one indifferent. It can be intimidating, yet it attracts, intrigues, and inspires dreams.

Our full control of the supply chain allows us to offer caviar at an excellent quality-price ratio. By offering small-sized tins, we enable the curious, the young, and gourmets to indulge in a refined tasting experience at an affordable price.
This ensures the sustainable development of our business activity in a competitive market, where demand is nonetheless growing.

We are currently expanding our sales force by distributing our products to trendy restaurants, fine grocery stores, fishmongers, and even at iconic locations and events. The company is in full expansion, and Kasnodar Caviar’s goal is to multiply its B2B and B2C distribution throughout Luxembourg and internationally.

What is your company's vision for the next 5 years?

As of today, we have created a unique business model, notably by internalizing numerous roles to optimize both product quality and customer service, which are two of the three fundamental pillars of the company.

The business has been fully vertically integrated, encompassing everything from sturgeon breeding, hatching fertilized eggs, and raising fish for 8 to 20 years depending on the species, to caviar production, building a desirable brand with its marketing and communication imperatives, and global distribution, to summarize our main activities.

We have also pursued horizontal integration at all stages. For example, we internally produce sturgeon feed from locally sourced natural ingredients for our aquaculture operations.
These are just a glimpse of the company’s activities and are part of our social and environmental commitment. Indeed, CSR is the third fundamental pillar of this venture. The company’s vision is to maintain this level of excellence across all our key pillars.
