Angelika Bocian-Jaworska, CEO and founder of Äerd Lab, leads a Luxembourg-based construction tech startup focused on low-carbon, clay-based building materials to drive sustainable, CO2-reducing solutions in modern construction.
Can you provide a brief description of your company?
Äerd Lab is a Luxembourg-based construction tech startup specializing in the production of low-carbon, clay-based building materials. Using advanced 3D printing technology, we create acoustic, self-drying bricks from repurposed construction waste, offering sustainable, easy-to-assemble solutions for architects, developers, and interior designers. Our bricks are approximately 70% less CO2 intensive than traditional options, meeting the growing demand for environmentally responsible materials. In 2024, we proudly graduated from the Fit4Start accelerator led by Luxinnovation, further validating our commitment to innovative and sustainable construction solutions.
How are you adapting to the evolving expectations of your customers?
We’re committed to helping clients in construction and design meet regulatory standards and environmental goals by offering materials that reduce CO2 emissions and streamline construction processes. Not only are our bricks sustainable, but thanks to advanced 3D printing and parametric design, we can create organic, unique designs and provide easy customization options, such as embedding logos or specific patterns into walls. Our elements are crafted to suit various applications, including division walls and decorative wall features, adding both functionality and aesthetic value to modern construction projects.

What is your company’s vision for the next 5 years?
Over the next five years, our goal is to expand our impact regionally by scaling production and refining our materials technology, followed by licensing our solutions globally. We plan to focus our R&D efforts on enhancing the thermal insulation and acoustic performance of our bricks, enabling them to be used externally in both new construction and renovation projects. By becoming a tech provider, we aim to accelerate the decarbonization of the construction industry on an international scale, making our low-carbon materials accessible to partners worldwide and significantly reducing construction-related CO2 emissions.
