“We’re a fast-growing international FinTech with a nearly 300% revenue increase last year and our platform proving highly scalable,” says Bert Boerman, CEO & Co-Founder of Governance.com. Interview.
What is the activity of Governance.com?
Governance.com digitalizes the asset management industry, one process at a time. We’re in the process automation space, providing a low-code process and data management platform for regulated companies. My twin brother and I founded the company in 2014 and we have since evolved from startup to scale-up status. Now we’re a fast-growing international FinTech with a nearly 300% revenue increase last year and our platform proving highly scalable (rolling out to over 80 markets). Our main focus is on helping companies in the asset management industry deal with the massive increase in the regulatory burden. Frankly, and as I experienced in my former work, it’s become impossible to effectively manage all the data, checks, and controls in the classic way, with spreadsheets and manually-managed work and process flows. Our platform provides a solution through process automation.
How exactly are you innovative?
Innovation remains at the core of everything our 30-person strong team does every day. Our company’s personality is defined by this. We’re not afraid to challenge the status quo and always think everything can be improved. Perhaps our Dutch heritage helps with our stubbornness to never give up and always keep innovating until we find the solution.
How can Luxembourg help you evolve?
We’re lucky to be at the heart of this environment for innovative growth. Networking, building collaborations, exchanging ideas and experiences; supporting one another to think outside the box… These are all features the local ecosystem offers. Specific facilitators play a great role as catalysts for success and growth such as the LHoFT, Silicon Luxembourg, House of Entrepreneurship, Jonk Entrepreneuren, Startup Luxembourg, Luxembourg for Finance, and the industry associations ALFI, ILA, ABBL, and others. Thanks to this accommodating ecosystem, two years from now we expect our team will have around 150 employees. We’ll have cemented our place in the European market and we’ll be operating globally. While we want the industry (and our company) to move fast, we know that to transform the industry, it’s one step (or process!) at a time. But a lot of small steps still make a big leap!
